Scope and Contents Biographical notes on Aulay MacAulay and Tormod Clèireach [Norman MacIver], telling how Aulay MacAulay died in 1760 and that he was the son of Fear Bhreinish [Dugald MacAulay, Brenish, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis]. There is a note of a daughter who left at fifteen years old although it is not clear if it is Dugald or Aulay's daughter. Aulay is noted as having three daughters. Also mentioned is a family member living with Aulay's brother-in-law Rev Mr Hamilton at Hoy, Orkney [Arcaibh]....

The note states that the reciter keeps the thread in his mouth and he does not put knots in the thread as he does not believe in them adding 'He never did this to a brute beast - only to human beings'.
